Get certified in both American Red Cross Basic Water Rescue and in Small Craft Safety-Canoe. **** Learn the information and skills necessary to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic and canoe emergencies properly by protecting yourself while assisting others. Note: this is not a lifeguard class. Instead it teaches non-swimming forms of water rescue. ****** Some of the skills you will learn: self-rescue in a canoe, re-entering a capsized canoe (how to empty and get back into a capsized canoe from deep water), entering a swamped canoe, canoe-over-canoe rescue. These skills are moderately physically challenging. You will be getting into and swimming in the lake.******** Cost is $50 and is DUE BY APRIL 2. Fee includes: Instructor’s fees, Red Cross cards, book, lifeguard, and use of equipment (canoes, paddles and life vests. Optional lunch can be provided for $5 more or bring your own.
